Landrover Defender 110 V8 Project

Defender Frame Swap

Since the change of the 'oldtimer regeling' in Holland, my defender V8 1984 is in rest mode. Beside removing LPG and placing a new fuel pump, also the frame needed to be fixed. I don't like welding to the frame, because it a short time solution, so I decided to buy a new galvanized frame.

So now 2019 we start disassembling the Defender body to lift it up and move the chassis into the workshop. It took us quite a while to find sense and time to spend some ours on removing to remove the gas tank and unscrew, break or grind the bolts from the frame.

No July 17th 2020 the day has come the we will lift the body from the chassis.

Okay, that went quite smootly, hower the body has too much weight for our DIY frame. The swivel castors of the support frame did not hold up. So, now we can move on. The frame is into our Defender Cabin, ready to disassemble the motor from the frame,

November 2021: The frame is removed now and both axis are cleaned painted black were needed. With a few strong men ( Thanks!) we move the new frame in our workspace. Now the building up process can begin.
